Warzone Season 6 FPS Drops: How to Fix Lagging and Stuttering

It’s no secret that Call of Duty: Warzone is poorly optimized for PC.  It seems that every season Call of Duty: Warzone has new FPS issues. Of course, season six is no different. Players have been reporting lowered FPS along with FPS stutters. This can be very frustrating when you need to track a moving target only to have your game freeze or stutter. In this guide, we will cover what you can do to help fix these FPS problems.

How to fix FPS issues in Call of Duty: Warzone

Empty out both your temp folder and your prefetch folder

You can find both of these folders by hitting Win+R or opening run through the search bar and typing in %temp% and prefetch to get to their respective folder. Once in these folders, you can delete all the files in them to clear up space. some of these files may require administrator privilege. You can leave those files if you want to, you mostly want to delete files from random programs you use.

Make sure you have installed all Windows and graphics driver updates

This is something you should normally keep up with and will want to install whenever available. Keeping Windows and your graphics drivers up to date can help with many issues you may be facing on your computer such as it running slow or programs not working right.

Set Call of Duty: Warzone to be a high-performance program

This can be done by going into Windows graphic settings. Once in there you can turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling if it’s available. After that, you will want to go down to the graphics performance preferences. Selected browse and add the Modern Warfare application to the list. Make sure you don’t select the launcher as they are right next to each other in your install folder. Once added to the list you will want to select options and set it to high performance.

Tweak your graphics settings

While this may seem like the most obvious fix it is still something to keep in mind. Sometimes your graphics settings can be reset from updates so giving them a look every once in a while never hurts. You can also try turning down some settings like low latency and render resolution. Disabling Nvidia’s low latency can help with FPS and lowing the render resolution by just 5 or 10 percent can provide a decent boost to your FPS.

Hopefully following these steps will give you an FPS boost and fix any stuttering issues you were having in the game. Sometimes the issues can be caused by the game itself and they could be fixed by future updates. If you need help with obtaining items in Warzone make sure to check out our other guides.
